01. Jezebel Blues

Jezebel

I’ve been runnin’ for days,

Distance my feet from the craze,

Seeing traps behind every raise,

Or highway bend.

Ahab’s a bruiser,

And Jezebel’s a sore loser,

And with each sunset,

I feel my life will surely end.

Combin’ the hills and towns,

Since they heard the news,

And while their chasin’ after me,

I’m chasin’ the Jezebel blues.

Killin’ those prophets of Baal,

Imagined her face turned so pale,

I guess that put a damper,

On her mid-night guru binge,

You’d think in spite of her pain,

That she’d be grateful for rain,

But she’s been hatchin’ out,

This juvenile revenge,

Runnin’ with Ahab’s chariot,

Is wearin’ out my shoes,

And while he chasin’ after me,

I’m chasin’ the Jezebel blues.

Chorus:

Jezebel blues they make me tremble,

Livin’ this life on the run and so afraid,

Jezebel blues they keep me nimble,

With a garison of blood-thirsty soldiers to evade.

Now I’ve got strength to elude,

With that pure angelic food,

And for near forty days,

I’ve been runnin’ on that high,

But its easy to see,

That their’s no one left but me,

So I’m hidin’ out in this cave,

Waitin’ to die

Runnin’ so fast and missin’ all those clues,

Chasin’ illusions and chasin’ the Jezebel blues.

Bridge:

The entrance of the cave,

A cloak to shade the eyes,

Not a quake or rushing wind,

Or a fire to taint the skies,

But my knees bend,

And my journey’s at an end,

With a gentle blowing breeze,

And a foolish heart to mend.
