What the World Can Never Know – My contribution to a real Christian wedding. This song was written for two very close friends. I sang this at their wedding and gave them a framed copy of the words as a wedding gift. I truly love the song. The images are so profound and package in a beautiful melody. The image of a Castled Heart is my favorite. One that you enter with great care, “lest you hurry down the halls and neglect to view the paintings on the walls”. I stole the rivers metaphor from my own wedding song. No one remembers anyway. They have the best marriage of anyone that I know. Proof that it can be done right. I recorded this live some years ago for preservation.
A candle dancing faintly in the night,
And we hold it close to keep the flame from flickering,
Hand in hand,
We stoop to find the footprints in the sand,
To show the way.
Two rivers forged to share a path unclaimed,
As the waters rush so violently around us,
The pressures of the merge,
Must receive the Master’s touch to ease the surge.
Chorus:
For we can share,
What the world can never know,
Reach into each others hearts,
Stoke the coals of heavens glow,
And watch it grow.
The castles of our hearts are safe and strong,
With great care we test the privilege of entering,
Lest we hurry down the halls,
And neglect to view the paintings on the walls.
The Rock of our confession standing sure,
While we lay our hearts and vows upon the alter,
And as we turn to go away,
We purpose to return here everyday.
Bridge:
Across the summit of the dreams left far behind,
Run the fears that tempt our hearts to doubt again,
We can rest the tears flood our minds,
When we cast all our care upon Him.
