24. Somewhere in Between

Somewhere in Between  This song for all intents and purposes has been recorded live.  Hence, the noisy guitar work.  It was written early in a relationship and discusses the need that exists for meeting somewhere in the middle, not my way or your way.  Also, since the relationship was geographically long distance, the message played on two different levels.  Later I added some layered strings and synths to give the song some depth.

We felt the rays of the birth of the morning,
I saw contentment in your smile,
Neither wanting to shake the splendor of the dawning,
So we stood and stared for quite a while.

With one hand we grasp the future of a lifetime,
And with one hand we drag the fears of yesterday,
Failing to realize the value in the moment,
Allowing precious chances slip away.

Chorus:
The road is long,
And the path ahead is often never seen,
Shadowing the hope to share tomorrow,
Though the distances divide,
There’s a spark that grows inside,
We will reach a place our hearts can intervene,
If we find each other somewhere in between.

I’ve heard it said, that home is where the heart is,
And I feel at home inside your eyes,
But why is it, that the dreams that seem the farthest,
Are the ones we seldom recognize ?

Bridge:
Rising up from the deepest part of me,
Encompassing parts that no one knows,
Passions that till the hardened soil within my heart,
And love’s the part that grows.
